BYC 2011 is in the bag. Once again we had kick ass weather and good company. I hope fun was had by all and judging by the amount of beer that was left (not much) much fun was had. The pictures say it all with smiles, cheers, faces of pain from those little hills, beer being consumed, and tons of bikes. The potluck wasn’t too shabby either. If you didn’t spend the night you truly missed out on an awesome breakfast from Coleman with two different kinds of quiche and a killer french toast casserole. The bloody’s were good too. Now for a roll call of thank you’s.
John and Kattia : Thank you for letting us take over the farm for a weekend to blow off some steam. It truly wouldn’t be the BYC without you. The fireworks were damn sweet too. And thanks to John for being an awesome co-director.
Dusty Rhodes: for the awesome shirt design. We may need more next year once everyone sees this one.
Coleman: for all the tasks you helped out with and the cure to my hangover Sunday morning.
Shelby: for picking up the slack and securing the kids prizes.
Wade: for the Vintage keg run!
Devon: for the superior photography skills you brought with you.
Nick and Danielle: The PA system to keep the vibe going long into the night.
Greg: for the tower of fire that kept everyone one warm and gave Jeff a reason to jump the fire too many times.
Taco Terry: you need a downhill rig if you are going to keep riding that hard! I never did figure out what the firewood did to you……
Race day volunteers – Ana, Jess, Danielle, Walker, Allison, and John’s mom and stepdad: I hope it was a little more organized than it has been in the past. You guys made it easy for me.
VBC Prep Crew: We spent a lot of hours clearing the downed trees, mowing, leaf blowing, firewood gathering, rebuilding trail, and course marking and set-up. Maybe we can get away with a few less hours next year.
Thanks again for coming out and partying with us. I will update later with a food pantry tally. It was more than last year for sure.

TICK TOCK
BYC 2011 Details
Race Start - 1:00
What - Crazy cycling/drinking duo endurance biathlon followed by a potluck dinner and partying into the night
Why - Why wouldn't you want to ride, drink, and be merry in October?!
Dinner - POTLUCK - please bring a dish per person to pass, a grill will be available, Bonfire and fireworks - weather permitting
Sunday – Full on breakfast with bloody mary’s to remedy that hangover
Course Features - Hilly short track approx. 1.5 mile length (expect 10 - 15 minute laps); Haunted barn, hay wagons, CCX barriers, wagon and log crossings, livestock (pot belly pigs, goats, and chickens)
Kids Race - Grab a beer and watch the young mashers throw down after the biathlon
Fee - $10 to cover beer, shirts, breakfast, the plastic box with a toilet, and other misc. expenses
Donation - The VBC is asking participants to bring two canned items per rider to donate to the local food pantry. Let's beat the 75 lb total from last year!

Placing will determined by a composite score from both events.

Lodging - Free overnight camping is available onsite; there is limited space for camper parking as well; The porta-potty will be back!

Let me start by saying that although this is a race, it is for fun, so those of you that feel you don't like to compete should have no excuse for not coming out and having a good time. This particular event will be focused on endurance or rather how many beers and laps can be put down in 2 hours. This event uses a duo format so you only really have to ride for about an hour. The standard beer, costume, and underwear bonuses are in place. Break out those costumes! Don’t let me down folks! Gelande quaffing is back by popular demand. Still don’t know what that is? Click on the vids to the right. Don't be intimidated by the athleticism displayed in some of the vids. We are just as health conscious as the next dude. We will go with 6 oz pours of delicious golden heaven. Sunday morning will bring bloody mary’s with breakfast to shake off that hangover from the TWO kegs from Vintage Brewing we are getting for dinner!

- 2 hour - The last lap must be completed before time expires
- Lap Rule - Teammates can't be more than 2 laps apart
- Costume/Underwear - PG13 rated - there will be kids around
- Altering or shortcutting the course = DQ
Bonuses/Penalties:
- Successful completion of the egg baton: Don't crack your egg! = 0.5 laps overall. The egg must be carried somewhere on the rider or the bike. You choose the means.
- Consuming your raw egg = 1 lap overall
- Beers consumed between laps: This is a fatigue factor, not "Can I get bombed?" Please act responsibly = 1 lap per beer with a 4 beer cap per team
- Costume = 1 lap overall per rider
- Underwear - wearing only tighty whities or grandma panties and a bra = 1 lap overall per rider
- All Bonuses must be acknowledged by the scorekeeper – Don’t assume we noticed your goofy ass costume or the way you impressively slammed that beer!
- Vomiting = 1 lap penalty per instance
- Not bringing a dish for the potluck = 1 lap penalty per rider
- Not bringing a food pantry donation = 2 lap penalty per rider
- Format - 90 sec rounds
- The ‘quaffer’ must be 2’ from the edge of the table and must catch the mug in the air
- Players must alternate positions for each turn
- Positions can’t be exchanged until the mug in play touches the table top
- 6 oz. pours
- Beer must be quaffed not worn to count
- Mug catch = 1 pt
- Handle catch = 2 pts
- 360 deg catch = 3 pts
- Under the leg catch = 3 pts

OCTOBER 15th wtf?!
Due to unforseen consequences of a late season race wrought with all the debauchery a group of underground mountain bikers can muster the BYC has been moved up to 10/15. Hopefully this won't mess with your hardcore training schedule too much. Hell we're all in top shape right?! At least I won't freeze my $@({ off this year. There have been a few changes on the farm. Sadly the farm house is no more but don't fret because there is still a shed that will substitute nicely as a haunted barn filled with fog and..... well you'll find out. A straight-line wind blew through and knocked down about 50 trees that we are still cleaning up. A few more man hours should remedy the situation. Lastly after the potluck dinner we ask that this be an adults only event. We all love kids but realize that it's not the best time for the little ones to be running around. Now where'd I put that tallboy.........
*EDIT* We moved the date back due to the USGP CCX in Sun Prairie on 9/24.
